List of previous meetings:

  • July 9 - No one showed up; anyone up for trying again in August or September? We could put more into preparation and spreading the word. - M Gomez
    • Sorry to hear it didn't work out the first time around. We had a similar situation in Germany with some cities (kind of a chicken and egg problem). What worked: Have three folks fix a date and commit to attending. Once that's out of the way, usually more people show up – at least the second time around. Good luck! ;-) (Tim)
  • I'm in Austin and I would love to help spread the word. When is the next meeting going to be? I can get people from UT involved. Juan Sequeda

* I'm in Houston and will commit to driving up there with 2 of my friends if we can do this late on Monday (i.e. around 9 pm.) I know the suggestion I am about to make is against the name, but I can further guarantee a trip up there if we do this on a Friday, Sat, or Sun. We really need to stir up the pot in Austin. Spread the word on Upcoming

Where

Currently looking for a meeting space with projector capabilities. Suggestions?

Since the group will be small and there are no suggestions of venue, would it be appropriate to keep the first one informal, and meet somewhere like a restaurant or coffeeshop? I'd like to suggest Austin Java or La Madelaine, both on N. Lamar, or Progress Coffee at 5th and San Marcos. – M. Gomez

Let's meet at Austin Java on Lamar – G. Stewart

About

Web Monday is an informal gathering (in and around Germany) aimed at bringing together developers, designers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, researchers, web pioneers, inventors, bloggers, podcasters, end users and other folks interested in web 2.0 (in the broadest sense). The goal is to better connect the German web 2.0 scene as well as improve transatlantic idea exchange between Germany and the US.

Since its inception in November 2005, Web Monday has spread fast: meetings are now being held in 15+ cities all across Germany on a regular basis and have attracted several hundred repeat participants so far. Meetings have also been held in Vienna (Austria) and Innsbruck (Austria) as well as on Second Life.

Who should attend and why?

Anyone involved in web 2.0 or neighboring fields who has an interest in German-US business (or any kind of “bridging” between the two, for that matter) is most welcome to join. Whether you are from Germany and live and work here in Austin (and want to help spread the love), or whether you are from Austin and have ties to Germany – Web Monday Austin is your chance to present your product, your service, your startup, your cool new project or your next big idea to a growing audience of German web aficionados.

Btw, Europe rocks: Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, The Netherlands, France, Poland, Austria… come on over! There is plenty we can learn from each other!

Agenda

The first meeting will be informal, anything goes. Feel free to talk about and show us what interesting projects you are working on or have come across.
